Beyond individual steps, Claude can be leveraged for research, planning, and process optimization, and can support solution design, development, and iteration across a broader initiative.
Integrating into an existing workflow means choosing between two strategies:
- Augment — Claude slots into a current step, and the rest of the process stays as-is
- Redesign — the process itself gets restructured around what Claude newly makes possible
These carry different risk profiles. Augmenting is lower-risk and faster to validate; redesigning can unlock more value but changes more surface area at once, which raises the stakes of getting the delegation boundaries right.
Retain the checkpoints. Automating a step doesn't automatically mean the review, approval, or escalation step that used to follow it is no longer needed — the work feeding into that checkpoint changed, but the reason the checkpoint existed may not have. Integration that quietly strips out human review because "Claude did it" is a common failure mode, distinct from deliberately reclassifying a step as AI-appropriate.
